Website Redesign Checklist: Audit, Strategy, Build, Launch

Use this checklist whether you hire an agency or manage the project yourself.

1. Audit

  • Analytics: top landing pages, bounce, conversion events
  • Search Console: queries, pages with impressions but weak CTR
  • Technical: speed, mobile usability, broken links, index coverage
  • Content: thin pages, outdated offers, missing services
  • Competitors: who ranks for your money terms

2. Strategy

  • Goals (leads, calls, demos) and primary CTAs
  • Information architecture and URL plan
  • Redirect map for URLs you will retire
  • Content owners and copy deadlines
  • SEO priorities (local vs national vs brand)

3. Build

  • Design system / components
  • Templates for key page types
  • Forms + spam protection + notifications
  • Analytics and conversion events
  • Accessibility basics (contrast, focus, alt text)

4. Launch

  • Staging QA on real devices
  • Redirects live and tested
  • Sitemap + robots verified
  • Search Console inspection of key URLs
  • Google Business Profile website link updated (if local)
  • 2-week post-launch watch for 404s and form failures
